At the vintage pop-up sale at Manual this weekend we will be selling a large collection of the iconic Fritz Hansen Series 7 chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955. These chairs had a former life in the Art Institute of Chicago’s Ryan Learning Center, which opened in the Modern Wing in 2009. The wear is typical for a plywood chair used in an institutional setting for 15 years, but we think the provenance gives the patina a meaningful story. They’re cleaned up and are priced to move out into Chicago homes (no dealers or online sales—for now).
